Zarôk Ioriag (Io. "Barrows of the Ancient folk") was a ceremonial site and pilgrim camp in Mordor. It was named for the Ioriag people of the Second Age for whose descendants the place served as a sanctuary.
A small town in the foothills of the Ered Glamhoth, this town was ancient and was settled by Ioriags, the ancestors of the Variags and various other Easterling tribes before Sauron came to Mordor. During Sauron’s residence it became an Orc-camp.
