Nurad

The Land of Nûrad

Nûrad was a somewhat rich, warm, hilly land located east of the northern tip of the Ered Harmal. Mordor and wide Khand Gap lay to the west. The Talathrant rose here. The Nennûrad was said to be the birthplace of the great river.

Given its wealth of freshwater and exceptionally strategic location, Nûrad was considered a prized territory. Its fierce, Nûradja-speaking residents were constantly threatened and often found themselves under the yoke of the brutal Variags (who regarded them renegades) or their more numerous Khey neighbors.

Geographically Nûrad would probably correspond to the lands east or southeast of the Caspian Sea, historical territories of the Apasiacae or Chorasmia.
