Mithringirath (S."Mithrim-ships") were elegant, flatbottomed ships, one-masted and usually 60-70 ft in length.These ships had originated with the Mithrim of northwestern Beleriand and were suitable for the cold northern seas and it had not been unheard of for Elves of Forlindon to actually draw their ships on land and move them on the ice like sleds if the sea was too frozen.For this case these elven ships often had special blades on board which could be attached to the ships underbelly if needed.
