Mere's End and Lindal Falls

An eighty-foot waterfall called the Mere's End (S. "Lindal") stood south of Long Lake. The Lakemen of Esgaroth heard these tumbling waters as "a distant roar." Once the site of the Northman town of Londaroth, Mere's End was now only a portage point marked by two great mills.Passing it required a time-consuming and costly portage.

After the reconstruction of Esgaroth and Dale the Lake-Men , assisted by Technicians from erebor, constructed a sophisticated boat-lift able to carry even larger river-boats from long-lake down to Celduin, a much similar installation as had once existed in the golden years of the King under the mountain.
