Zirakbhund (S. "Mallost" [Gold Fortress]) was a large underground-hall below the northern peaks of the Ered Luin and most likely of the two likely places of the awakening of the Broadbeams and Firebeards - consequently sacred to both tribes for many millennia.
After the ruin of Belegost and Nogrod, Dwálin the Wise heir built new halls nearbly to the old ones (some 35-40 miles north of Mount Dolmed). This new part of the mansion then served as his residence for a long time.
In the year 2900 of the MediaWiki:Badtitletext, the lord of Broadbeams left it for the new mansion at Barazbizar but Zirakbhund remained occupied. It was not until T.A. 1480 that the mansion was finally abandoned. The remaining population resettled to Khazad-dûm. This was also the end for Broadbeams people as an independent house. From then on, their fate was intertwined with that of Longbeards.
It was one of Zirakbhund´s forsaken mines that became the short-term refuge of Arvedui, the last King of Arthedain before his death. It was (with Edennogrod) the larges mine of the Nan-i-Naugrim, founded by the Firebeards, like Nornhabar in the Harered Luin.
