Only a small trading station, two mills, and an inn remained to serve the merchants who had to portage their wares over the Falls of Celduin. A market once flourished here, but it had moved up the Long Lake to Esgaroth.
After the reconstruction of Esgaroth and Dale the Lake-Men, assisted by technicians from Erebor, constructed a sophisticated boat-lift able to carry even larger river-boats from Long Lake down to Celduin, a much similar installation as had once existed in the golden years of the King under the Mountain.
