Hornets appeared very similar to common wasps, but were larger and coloured chestnut-brown (rather than black) and yellow. The largest of the Endorian social wasps, they built papery nests in hollow trees, although hornet nests had been discovered in wall cavities and chimneys.

Hornets had an unwarranted fearsome reputation, and would only sting humans if attacked.
