Othnen (S. "War-water"): This river was one of the main tributaries of the Inland Sea of Rhûn and flowed northwest from its sources in the Ered Lithui, entering the Sea at Lest. Easterling tribes followed the river to provide a steady source of water for their mounts. Control of the river was often in dispute amongst the nomadic tribes of the plain, hence its name.
