The most famous Road of Rhovanion was the Men-i-Naugrim, the "Way of Dwarves," one of the most ancient paths in all of northwestern Middle-earth. Actually a combination of a number of linked trails and highways, the Men-i- Naugrim began in the Dwarf mines of the Blue Mountains, crossed Eriador, where it was called Great East Road (or Old Road especially the road between Bree and Rivendell), and the Misty Mountains, and ran through Mirkwood. There it was also called the Old Forest Road. East of the great wood, it crossed the River Running at Iach Celduin (Athrad Celduin) and then cut northeast toward Dáin's Kingdom in the Iron Hills.
