Calthaiel's hamlet
Pel-en-Calthaiel (S. "Hamlet of the Herb-daughter") was a Township of Ethir Gwathló in Cardolan.It lay in the center of the great cape of Minhiriath about seventy five miles landinwards from the mouths of Gwathló.The town had a quite large populatin of 4,000 in TA 250.However it's population declined after the mid-Third Age and the settlement was eventually abandoned by TA 1640.

- In the 2017 version of his article Population and Urbanisation in Eriador, Thomas Morwinsky renames the location previously identified as "Ilfin" as "Cathiel" while reassigning the name "Ilfin" to the location previously identified on some maps as "Faelond" and not renaming the original,location of "Cathiel".
