A Horse-archer in the cavalry of the Riddermark, Éogil carried a
composite bow and two quivers of arrows in lieu of a lance. He was
adept with his broadsword, however, and his helm possessed the
noseguard typical of the heavy cavalry. A chain hauberk hung to
Éogil's knees, below which red wrappings secured his trousers close
about his boots. He bore a round shield whose green surface displayed
a white horse, the device of Rohan.
